New Delhi, August 4: Purani Dilli 6 have received a boost in confidence after registering their first win of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 season, defeating West Delhi Lions by seven wickets in a commanding run chase at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.
After suffering a setback in their opening fixture, Purani Dilli 6 responded in style with an impressive all-round performance. Dev Lakra starred with a blistering 64 off 33 balls, while skipper Anuj Rawat anchored the chase with an unbeaten 49 to guide the team home with more than two overs to spare after chasing down a challenging target of 181.
The victory comes ahead of the team’s l two important back-to-back fixtures against Central Delhi Kings on Wednesday and New Delhi Tigers on Thursday.
Speaking after the win, Purani Dilli 6 owner Mr. Akash Nangia expressed his delight with the team’s response and praised the players for their resilience.
“This was a very satisfying performance from the entire team. After the opening game, the players showed great character, belief and determination to bounce back in such an emphatic fashion. Chasing 181 is never easy, especially after losing a wicket off the very first ball, but the way Dev Lakra took the attack to the opposition and the composure shown by our captain Anuj Rawat in finishing the game reflected the confidence and quality within this squad,” said Nangia.
The owner also credited the bowling attack for restricting West Delhi Lions after they had raced to a dominant start.
“I would also like to appreciate the bowling unit for restricting a strong batting side to 180 after they had such a dominant start. Performances like these are the result of collective effort, and it’s encouraging to see different players stepping up when the team needs them.”
“This victory gives us valuable momentum, department. We believe in this group, and we’re excited about what lies ahead,” he concluded.
Purani Dilli 6 will now look to continue their winning run as they take on Central Delhi Kings on Wednesday before facing New Delhi Tigers on Thursday in what promises to be a crucial phase of their DPL 2026 campaign.
